RESOLVED TO CHANGE THE UNACCEPTABLE
A Proud San Bruno Native Ready to Lead Our City
I’m Stephan Marshall, and my motivation is clear: I’m running for City Council to represent my constituents in District 2, and I do so with the success and safety of ALL of San Bruno in mind.
San Bruno is Home
I’ve called San Bruno home for 49 years. Living in Crestmoor Park with my three wonderful daughters—Elissia, a Capuchino graduate and Skyline student; Paulina, a high school Junior; and Valentina, a 5th grader. From my own days at St. Robert’s School to St. Ignatius College Prep, to further education at Sonoma State, Golden Gate University, and UCLA, San Bruno has always been my home and my foundation for family.
A Community-Driven Leader
San Bruno isn’t just where I live; it’s where I’ve chosen to build my life, build my home, and raise my family. As a Realtor and small business owner, I’ve sold more homes here in the last ten years than any other agent. I’ve invested in this city more than any other candidate. This vibrant city and growing business hub has made me who I am today. I’m running because I’m ready to give back to the people and businesses of San Bruno and to do so with a full heart.
My service to our community includes several years on the San Bruno Parks and Recreation Commission, and as a Board member and two-term President of StarVista, one of our county’s largest nonprofits which caters to children and single moms struggling with addiction and abuse. It was at StarVista where I honed my skills in budget management and effective policy-making. As two-time President of the Rotary Club of San Bruno, I’ve worked hand-in-hand with many of you to meet your needs. My tenure as St. Robert’s School Board President and active participation in the school’s Men’s Club have taught me the power and responsibility of leadership through service.
Facing Challenges Together
Our city has much to be proud of, and we also face significant challenges. District 2, like much of San Bruno, is home to a diverse population that includes a distinct group of residents and business owners. Many of our residents are part of America’s proud tradition of immigrants giving back to and building of their community. While our median household income is higher than the state average, there are still important economic disparities. Acknowledging the specific needs and contributions of every aspect of our diverse district and creating equitable opportunities for all of us is important to me.
The bulk of our community are raising families, and there is a significant senior population, with their own unique challenges in healthcare access and affordable housing. I’m determined to tackle these issues head-on, collaborating with you and the Council to lead San Bruno forward. With my extensive experience as a father and small business owner, I’m well-equipped to serve effectively.
A Commitment to San Bruno’s Future
If elected, I will leverage my business acumen, leadership skills, and dedication to our community to strengthen and energize San Bruno for all of us. It’s time to recognize the challenges in front of us, to honor the diversity of our city, and to serve all of us that live and work here. Our city’s economy includes businesses in healthcare, retail, professional services, and a growing tech industry. I plan to support all of these sectors. As a San Bruno father, businessman, homeowner, volunteer, and community organizer, I know that it’s time to stand up for what I believe; it’s time to serve all of San Bruno.
Some of you may remember my last campaign to serve you on our City Council. Unfortunately, by only a small number of votes, I didn’t succeed.
This time, with your help, I intend to win. At that time, my ideas on the development and direction of San Bruno were prescient; I saw the pitfalls of what might happen, and it did. Many of you have spoken to me about the failed road our current council has taken us down. So, my promise to you is that I will no longer accept the things I cannot change. I intend to change the things I cannot accept. This is why I humbly ask for your vote.
I’m ready to roll up my sleeves, do the heavy lifting for us, get to work, and together we will make San Bruno an even better place to live, work, and raise our families.
